The Project Great Zimbabwe Hydro Power is a 5MW Hydro Power plant at the dam wall of Lake Mutiriki, which is located approximately 20 km southeast of Masvingo and east of Great Zimbabwe. The project includes power station and associated facilities which are built on a green-field site on a side of the narrow gorge downstream of the dam wall. The power generated will be fed into the National Grid and will contribute approximately 0.5% of the national power demand. The project is expected to have a minimum life span of 25 years..
The is sited at the wall of the dam, on Mutirikwi Communal Land, approximately 20 km southeast of Masvingo town. The project will have no impact on the past water release and it is anticipated that the carbon emission reduction resulting from the project will be about 11 100 tonnes CO2 per annum
